TEMPORARY SUPPLY / NETWORK FLEXIBILITY
Mobile
Substations.
Power where it is needed.
A package built for the move.
Transportable substation packages for network maintenance, temporary supply and changing site needs. Coordinate the transformer, switchgear, controls and transport arrangement as one project.
Project-specific selection. Clear technical documentation.

01 / THE RIGHT FIT
A complete package.
Not just a movable transformer.
A mobile substation combines the electrical equipment needed for a defined duty with an engineered transport arrangement. The transformer, switching, protection and auxiliary systems must work together.
VoltGrid coordinates the package around the network connection and site constraints. Transport limits, access, grounding interfaces and commissioning responsibilities are reviewed alongside the electrical design.
Define the complete supply boundary
Identify which primary equipment, protection panels, auxiliaries and connection accessories belong in the package.
Plan for the receiving site
Review access routes, setup space, cable connections and the resources required for installation.

02 / CONFIGURATION OPTIONS
Configure around
the deployment scenario.
The intended use affects the equipment scope, connection arrangements and logistics plan. Agree these inputs before selecting a package.
Maintenance & replacement
Temporary transformation during planned work or replacement of fixed equipment.
- Match the available network connections
- Coordinate protection and operating procedures
- Plan access, positioning and temporary interfaces
Temporary project supply
A transportable package for a project with a defined supply period or changing location.
- Establish load growth and operating duration
- Review ambient conditions and auxiliary supplies
- Coordinate transport route and receiving-site limits
Network contingency
Equipment scoped around a utility or industrial contingency strategy.
- Define the connection scenarios in advance
- Agree transport readiness and accessory scope
- Review commissioning and operational responsibilities
Deployment and delivery schedules depend on the confirmed design, transport route, site readiness and operating requirements.
Four systems.
One coordinated scope.
Use the package breakdown to establish supply boundaries and interfaces.
Primary equipment
Transformer, switching and specified incoming / outgoing connections.
Protection & auxiliaries
Relays, metering, controls, auxiliary supplies and project communications.
Transport & site interfaces
Platform or trailer, dimensions, handling, earthing interfaces and access.
03 / TECHNICAL SELECTION
Specify the duty.
Include the journey.
Electrical ratings alone do not define a mobile package. Add transport, site and interface information so the proposed scope is practical for deployment.
Enquiry checklistPDF · Project specification worksheet| Selection parameter | What to confirm |
|---|---|
| Electrical ratings | Required MVA, voltage levels, frequency and operating duty |
| Connection scheme | Single-line diagram, incoming / outgoing circuits and neutral arrangement |
| Primary equipment | Transformer, switchgear and required switching or isolation functions |
| Protection & control | Relay philosophy, metering, interlocks and communications interfaces |
| Auxiliary systems | AC / DC supplies, batteries, lighting and environmental control as required |
| Transport envelope | Route restrictions, dimensions, axle / weight limits and transport method |
| Receiving site | Access, positioning space, foundation / support and earthing interfaces |
| Deployment scope | Cable accessories, assembly, commissioning and responsibility boundaries |
| Verification & delivery | Inspection, agreed tests, packing, transport and site documentation |
Specific ratings, availability and supporting evidence are confirmed for the proposed equipment.

06 / COMMON QUESTIONS
Before you
specify.
Practical questions about mobile substation selection and project requirements.
Ask a technical questionWhat is normally included in a mobile substation?
A package may include a transformer, switching equipment, protection and control, auxiliary supplies and a transport platform. The actual scope must be defined in the project proposal, including any connection accessories and site services.
Can the same package serve different sites?
Only if the ratings, connections, protection settings, transport constraints and installation conditions are suitable. Identify the intended sites and operating scenarios during the design review.
Does a mobile substation need site preparation?
Yes. The receiving site must provide appropriate access, positioning space, supports, earthing and electrical interfaces. Temporary equipment still requires an approved installation and commissioning plan.
How quickly can it be deployed?
Deployment depends on equipment availability, transport permits, route conditions, site readiness and the work required for connection and commissioning. A schedule should be agreed for the actual project scope.
Who is responsible for installation and commissioning?
Responsibility boundaries should be agreed before order placement. Define transport, offloading, assembly, connections, testing, operational approvals and training in the scope of supply.
